What are binaural beats?
Certain states of the mind have their own frequency, but can it be induced from outside? The mindset of positive thinking or super learning can be received at the alpha frequency, which ranges from 8 to 12 Hz. However, these small frequencies are not taken in by the human ear, which can be verified only by electroencephalography (EEG) or during meditation.
The human ear is able to receive frequencies from 20 Hz up to 20,000 Hz (based on my own experiments, I could only hear from 25 Hz up to 15,000 Hz). Any frequency that is out of that range is not registered in our minds. Due to the research of a famous German physician H.W. Dove, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinrich_Wilhelm_Dove) we have the opportunity to deliver these frequencies to our minds. He found that if two frequencies that have difference, which is delivered in our mind in the acceptance range, the mind can produce the difference frequency.
Imagine that a frequency of 400 Hz is “launched” into your right ear, and a frequency of 415 Hz is “launched” into your left ear. In doing so, your mind is able to produce a third binaural beat with a frequency of 10 Hz because it is the difference of both. This frequency of 10 Hz produces relaxation, super learning, and positive thinking.
What kind of frequencies need to be produced to have desired effect?
Due to numerous research, the following is known today:
- Delta: 1-3 Hz, deep sleep, lucid dreaming, increased immune functions
- Theta: 4-7 Hz, deep relaxation, meditation, increased memory, focus
- Alpha: 8-12 Hz, light relaxation, super learning, positive thinking
- Beta: 13-25 Hz, normal state of alertness, stress, anxiety
Studies have shown that frequencies between 7 Hz and 9 Hz influences humans to learn faster, and a session of 5HZ sound frequencies during 30 minutes can replace 2 to 3 hours of sleep and many other positive effects.
Are binaural beats safe?
Many recent research have proven that binaural beats are safe for human health. They do not pose any danger to its listeners. Frequencies that are used to achieve certain mindset are heard every day in our surroundings. Our brain generates all the power and energy of our body. However, do not listen to binaural beats while you are driving or operating any machinery. The best place that helps to achieve optimum results when listening to binaural beats is at home where you always feel safe and relaxed.
Robert Monroe, founder of Hemi-Sync and Binaural Beats
Robert Monroe is the founder of Binaural Beats and Hemi-Sync (hemispherical synchronization), which were believed to increase mental ability or trigger an altered state of consciousness.
I truly believe that Robert was one of the most advanced people in this field. His experience, which was described in his books, was so unbelievably amazing that I can see how a reader, who has never experienced anything similar before, may not believe it. I wish I had the same level of awareness that he had! He was able simply to fall asleep at night and go into a lucid dreaming state or OBE (out of-body-experience) state, which could even be a different phenomena. Robert believed this was an aftereffect of his job. He was working on audio recordings and had to listen to them carefully (in other words, in a highly awareness state). I believe, as a result, he simply used to do everything concisely with a high level of awareness. Night dreaming was not excluded from this behavior.
I was able to test a Hemi-Sync Lucid Dreaming Series product from the Monroe Institute. Based on my experience, this was almost the most efficient technology I have ever tried. To be honest, the first trial was a complete fail. That was more than half a decade ago, and I do not think it was an original recording. Perhaps the author was willing me to separate myself from my physical body. The fact was I did not know that I had to fall asleep first or be really close to that stage.
Anyway, after all my experiences and with the knowledge that I had, I obtained the desired result using a current recording almost from the first trial. All I had to do was to follow the instructions and not be distracted with other thoughts. Unfortunately, this experiment was quite complicated for me, and I also could not sleep when I was focused on an activity. This meant that I could not get any results for a period of time. Perhaps my mind is used to react in a similar way and voice prompts are no longer signals for me.
In addition, I would like to share some of my experiences from some 8 hours Hemi-Sync recording. I think it is only a 30-minute recording that repeats with different intervals through 8 hours. That was not the original recording from the Monroe Institute. It was a recording created by another author based on the same technology. Basically, I am supposed to start listening to it from the evening through a whole night. There was no effort required from my side, and I achieved results on the first night! It wasn’t a lucid dreaming experience; I simply followed recorded commands (for example, go through the wall, fly, and look around). I did not remember myself or my real history, but I remembered the dream. Therefore, I believe this is a good start. Unfortunately, my girlfriend started to complain about my snoring. I have never snored before, so the recording caused some triggers that caused me to snore. Was it a bad design? Or did the recording simply put me in a deep dream state where I could not hear my snore nor control myself? I do not know. What I would really want to try is the same 8 hour recording made by the Monroe Institute.
